Your New Patient Visit at Pleasant Dentistry

Your first visit is an important step in getting to know you and building a long-term relationship based on trust and comfort. During your appointment, you’ll meet Dr. Stan Ryals and our friendly team, review your dental and medical history, and discuss any specific goals or concerns you may have about your oral health. We create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere so you never feel rushed, just cared for.

Step 1: Your Appointment

Upon your arrival, our welcoming team will be ready to assist you with check-in, notifying your oral health team of your arrival, and verifying insurance if applicable. To save time, we recommend completing any new patient forms sent in your appointment confirmation email before you arrive.

Afterward, a friendly team member will escort you from the waiting room to a private treatment room. During your visit, our dental team will review your dental and medical history and discuss any dental health concerns or issues you may have. To further assess your oral health, our dental assistant will take X-rays to examine the jaw’s structure, teeth position, and tooth condition.

Step 2: Your Exam

Once you’re settled in a treatment room, a team member will review your dental and medical history and any concerns you may have. We use advanced dental technology such as intraoral cameras to provide a 3-D video tour of your teeth and jaw structure, allowing us to make more accurate diagnoses and provide personalized treatment plans.

During your comprehensive exam, we will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, and take x-rays to assess your overall oral health. Our goal is to help you achieve your dental goals while ensuring your comfort and satisfaction. After the exam, we will review our findings with you and discuss recommended treatments and procedures.

Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit

During your first visit, your dental health team will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth to determine the appropriate treatment plan for your specific oral health needs. Depending on your condition, a cleaning may or may not be performed during this initial visit.

Our skilled dental hygienist will perform an oral cancer screening and evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums. If a cleaning is deemed appropriate, the hygienist will use traditional tools or advanced water-powered instruments to remove any buildup of plaque or tartar. Your hygienist will also provide personalized tips on how to maintain good oral hygiene and prevent gum disease. The entire hygiene exam typically takes around 45 minutes, and you will be provided with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste to continue your home care routine.
